Friday night saw two bouts with one on either side of the Atlantic.
The first, taking place in Birmingham, England, saw Mike O'Hagan (4-1, 1) suffer the first mark on his record as he was unexpectedly out pointed by Czech Cruiserweight Martin Horak (3-0, 2). Horak, who entered the bout after having had just 2 professional rounds under his belt couldn't take out O'Hagan though did do more than enough to take the decision and in fact the 39-38 score of referee Robert Chalmers was closer than many had it.
Following the English bout there was action in Canada as Paul Mackenzie (5-0-1, 3) retained his unbeaten record thanks to a 4th round KO of Taylor Bull (1-3, 1), who was fighting for the first time in 31 months. The fact "P MAC" took 4 rounds to get rid of Bull, who has now lost his last 3, is a worry though we've real doubts on Mackenzie even claiming a Canadian national title.
