In the world of Heavyweight boxing mismatches have the norm, sure no one can rival a Klitschko it seems but at every level mismatches seem to take place. Two great examples occurred in Germany today as Fatih Yildiz (11-0, 5) out pointed Pavel Siska (6-31-1, 4) and Oezcan Cetinkaya (21-8-1, 13) blasted out Martin Stensky (0-27). Neither of these bouts proved anything and in all honesty it's appalling that Stensky is still being licensed with more than 20 stoppage losses on his record.
Just to the west of Germany, in France, Alban Galonnier (3-4-1, 3) stopped Lithuanian Rolandas Cesna (3-12). This result is unlikely to make any news but Cesna has now been stopped 3 times in his 8 bouts.
Not everyone who is expected to win manages to collect the "W" and in Canada we witnessed Dillon Carman (5-2, 4) suffering an upset loss as he was stopped by Sylvera Louis (5-2, 2). We did think this was a potential banana skin though didn't expect a stoppage by Louis who may well be gaining a reputation as a dangerous opponent.
The loss for Carman was 1 of 3 "unexpected" losses with the touted Daniel Pasciolla (0-1) also suffering a loss. Pasciolla wasn't just beaten by Dante Selby (1-0-1) but hardly won a round in a bout that was supposed to be introduce him to professional boxing. Good win for Dante though question marks need to be asked of those who had tipped Pasciolla to make an impact as a pro.
Going further south to Panama we had another upset as Panamanian puncher Luis Andres Pineda (23-10-1, 19) stopped former world title contender Carl Davis Drumond (29-4, 23). For Pineda this was revenge for a 10 round decision loss back in 2008, though for Drumond it's a result that surely must spell the end. The Costa Rican, who gave Ruslan Chagaev a stern test in 2009 is now 3-4 in his last 7 and should be calling it quits.
Yet further south, in Argentian, Walter Armando Masseroni (27-9, 22) scored a victory in yet another mismatch as he stopped Carlos Alberto Suarez (0-8) in 65 seconds. This was the 8th stoppage loss for Suarez all within 3 rounds.
Back across the world in South Africa former national Cruiserweight champion Danie Venter (16-6, 12) also claimed a victory in a mismatch as he defeated Nsitu Mbaya (1-3, 1). This was Venter's first victory since losing to Thabiso Mchunu last November.
In Britain there was a victory for Lithuanian Paulius Kasiulevicius (1-0. 1) who made a solid start to his professional career taking out Frantisek Kynkal (2-2, 2) in just 145 seconds. As well as Kasiulevicius scoring a victory JJ Ojuederie (14-8-1, 2) also recorded a victory out pointing Kristian Kirilov (2-5-1)
The final 2 bouts that we have results for took place in the Gradska Sportska Dvorana, Ljubuski. They saw Haris Gredelj (2-0, 2) stopping debutant Dragan Pavlovic (0-1) in the opening round and Sladjan Janjanin (1-0, 1) stopping Filip Egeljic (0-1) in the second round.
