Over in Belgium we had one of the more notable matches, at least on paper, as Ali Baghouz (7-0-1, 4) met Jean Claude Bikoi (15-14-1, 8) in a battle for the Belgian Heavyweight title. Unfortunately despite the title and national pride being on the line the bout failed to come alive with Bikoi being forced to retire after just a single round.
This was one of five Heavyweight contests in Europe with arguably the next most notable taking place in the UK as the gigantic Adam Machaj (1-0, 1) made a successful debut stopping Luke Martin (0-2-1) in 124 seconds. Stood at 6'7 and aged 24 some are taking note of Machaj's potential and we're hoping that the Super Heavyweight will manage to fulfill that potential sooner rather than later.
In Bulgaria Deyan Mihailov (1-4-2) claimed his first victory as he out pointed the still winless Nikolai Yorgov (0-12) whilst in whilst in Germany Bekim Pagga (4-4, 2) leveled up his record with a decision over the limited Elvir Behlulovic (3-18, 1).
The Baghouz/Bikoi bout wasn't the only title bout that took place last night with another taking place in the US. With the NABA USA Heavyweight title on the line Jason Bergman (21-10-2, 14) shocked us all by stopping the previously unbeaten John L Smith (13-1-1, 3) in just 119 seconds!
The only other bout from the US saw the once beaten Rodney Hernandez (5-1, 1) scored his fourth straight victory out pointing Kevin Howard (3-11-1, 1) in an expected result.
