The first of the two bouts saw the promising Craig Vitale (4-0, 2) racking up his fourth win of the year by stopping the debuting Joe Muir (0-1). Muir was stopped in the second of the scheduled 4 rounds and it's fair to say that Vitale is certainly a fighter who is now on our radar, even if this was over a debutant.
The second, and with out a doubt more important, bout on the card was for the Victoria State Heavyweight title as Joel Shackleton (5-0, 4) narrowly defeated Hunter Sam (6-2-2, 3). Shackleton came in to the bout with a big punchers reputation but was unable to get rid of Sam who some felt was unfortunate to drop a majority decision.
In the US we also had a Heavyweight double.
The most notable of the bouts in the US saw Jason Gavern (22-15-4, 11) scoring a very quick victory over Robert Dunton (9-9-1, 6) who lasted a little over 2 minutes against Gavern. The match appeared a mismatch on paper and, as you can tell, proved to be inside the ring.
The other bout on the same show saw Eric Newell (7-2-1, 5) taking out Moses Marshall (0-2-1). Like the Gavern/Dunton bout this failed to last a round with Newell being stopped at the 1:56 mark of the opener.
