Sauerland Events, the promoter of British Heavyweight David Price (15-2, 13), has today released a press statement stating the "Pricey" will vacate both the British and Commonwealth titles.
Price, who was to face mandatory challenger Dereck Chisora if he wanted to retain his titles, will instead focus on rebuilding his career following back-to-back stoppage defeats to Tony Thompson.
This rebuilding process will begin on December 14th in Germany as Price fights against Russian giant Evgeny Orlov (14-12-1, 10). The 6'9" Russian is one of the very few active fighters actually taller than Price though he is a man whose limitations have been shown up in the past and he comes in to this bout with just 3 wins in his last 9 contests.
It's expected that Price will remain in Germany for a number of fights. Whilst his loyal Liverpudlian fans will certain miss him it could well be a move that could save his career, especially considering the fact his confidence appears to be completely gone. A few wins in Germany to rebuild his confidence is likely to do him the world of good and Sauerland likely think the same.
